Sharepoint Clustering
I have installed and managed sharepoint before, and worked with clustering before but never looked into clustering with Sharepoint. I have managed to confuse myself by listening to different people implementing MOSS 2007 in different ways. I have a failover SQL cluster already running and tested, it hosts all of our SQL databases for various apps. I built a second 2 physical node failover cluster for sharepoint and file services with a Windows cluster name (svr 2008 ent). I installed MOSS 2007 on the cluster and directed the database to the SQL failover cluster. Step one complete. The database has full redundancy because of the failover cluster, but i need to have redundancy within the sharepoint installation itself. What is the best way to do this? My current installation has web front end and application services on the one clustered node, and the sql on it's own cluster. The file server is a clustered application and fails over no problem. As far as I can tell, there is no way to make sharepoint a clustered application for automatic failover so what is the best practice?? Is it to install sharepoint on both of the cluster nodes and set up load balancing between them or have I completely missed the point? Thanks in advance!
