Sharepoint Configuration Tutorial
I am a "garden variety" Win2003 system admin. My organization is planning to install Sharepoint next year so I am trying to find out as much I can about how Sharepoint works. I am finding the learning curve to be steep and difficult. Install and initial configuration are understandable but what comes after that is not. I am having trouble understanding the "big picture" and how all the parts (applications, site collections, ssp etc. etc.) work together. I need a a tutorial that would take me thru, step by step, a sample setup that a small organization would typically use.

In order to provide you with a suitable tutorial we need to know which version of SharePoint you intend to install. I would imagine for a new installation that would be the latest version SPF 2010 or SPS 2010 but you have posted to a forum for earlier versions.2010 Books: SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc. 2007 Books: WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.

I am working with SP2007 because I have only 32 bit servers. I have two book I have been working with: SP 2007 Administrators Companion and Sharepoint 2007 for Dummies but they are not helping much. Plenty of detail but not how the parts fit together.
