Hi,
I got the following scenario of DPM.
Site 1 (Datacenter)
Physical Server : Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise (Member Server)
SQL Server : SQL 2008 Standard
I have installed DPM 2010 on this server and it is using a the separate instance for this installation SQLServer\MSDPM2010.
Site 2 (Office)
Physical Server :Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise (Member Server)
On Site 2 i have a single server and there is a tape drive only connected to it.
I am trying to install DPM 2010 here on this machine and trying to use the same SQL server as in Datacenter but DPM setup does prerequisite check and gives the message to install the DPM support files on the SQL Server before the installation.
And when i try to install the support files on SQL Server at Datacenter i get the following message.
Note: The Server at Datacenter is already running a DPM 2010 on it and i am getting this error message when running the support files.
Q1 - Is this setup possible?
Q2 - If support files are getting installed is there an alternate method to install these files?
Q3 - Is there a workaround to get this whole thing working?
If the answer is no to all of the above questions.
Can windows Server backup be used to backup the data to the tape drive?
Regards.
