Hi,Try this: Go to Windows explorer under "Tools" --> "Folder options...", Select the "File types" option. Highlight the word file type (.doc and .docx) and click on the "advanced" button. The value corresponds to the first check box "Confirm open after download". Hi, I think the issue is caused by enabling Client integration in your web application, if you disable Client integration in Central Administration > Application Management > Authentication Providers > Edit Authentication, you will not see this prompt when open the picture. If you dont want to disable Client integration, the option is to right click the picture and open link in new tab. Let me know the result if it is possible.Xue-Mei Chang

Hi, did you find a way to disable the popup (i have this for pdf, but local explorer settings are oke)? I need client integration too, but i would like to get rit of the popup asking me iof I would like to Modify or read teh document. I cannot even modify.Sander

no, we already add the site as trusted a a matter of course as it gets rid of security warnings that seemt o be very annoying for the user. Any more suggestions greatfullly recieved

Maybe you allready figured this out, but for other users that have the same problem:If you see this popup (esp with non ms extensions like pfd) and you tried all available options (like adding site to trusted sites, change default action for file type etc) then my hack might work for you. Please be carefull because changing default sharpoint files is not really supported and any future update might undo your changes. Anyway I tried all the options and indeed unchecking 'Enable CLient Integration' removed the popup, but I needed all the other stuff like datasheets etc. so that was no option.Because nobody really came up with an answer I dived into the scipting and found that all pages use DispEx(..) to stream teh file back to the client. This function is defined in core.js. It does some really non-understandable checks andfinaly calls some sub function. I did some trial and error and found replacing the next line works for me://var fIsServerFile=strServerFileRedirect !=null && strServerFileRedirect !="";var fIsServerFile=true;PLEASE NOTE all files in your sharepoint environment will now allways be readonly (but without the popup). Because my customer users sharpeoint as archive this works great for us.Any way hope this helps.Sander

I had this same exact issue when we upgraded to Office 2007, we were getting these prompts from our sharepoint site and it seems to be an Internet Explorer Active X add-on. I can only find the add-on in IE 7 and IE 8. So close out of IE and go into the control panel and double click on Internet options then click on the programs tab and click on the manage add-ons button. Find the SharePoint OpenDocuments Class add-on and disable it. This should stop the prompting after you have done everything above.

Another solution is to see if you have both Office 11 and Office 12. The IE add-on Sharepoint OpenDocuments Class uses a file named OWSUPP.DLL. If user has Office 2003 and Office 2007 programs installed, this file will reside in both Office 11 and Office 12 folders and causes some kind of conflict. Rename the Office 12 file to OWSUPP.OLD and it should fix the issue. Any Office updates or diagnostics will reset this and you will have to do it again.

Unfortunately, this also disables the ability to edit the page.

The best solution to the owsupp.dll problem is to never have mixed versions of Office on the clients. Then you will also only ever have a single owsupp.dll file in use. (Even Outlook 2007 + Word 2003 is a mixed installation btw.
