Stand-alone media - TS fails
Hai,
I've created a standalone media with the TS that we usually run for installing Windows 7 and all our applications. PXE booting, and running this very same TS works perfectly, without returning any errors.
Installing from the DVD though, returns several of these errors in the smsts.log:
Failed to run the action: Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
User cancelled installation. (Error: 80070642; Source: Windows) TSManager 24-03-2011 15:06:20 1968 (0x07B0)
I did not cancel the installation.
Any ideas? :-(

We actually have software that requires .net 1.1. The software won't install without 1.1 being on the computers.

What installation parameters are used in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 program of the package?
Are the packages available on the DVD since installation fails there?

Hey, this is not related to .net framework 1.1, as it happens to other packages aswell. And yes, the packages is available on the DVD.
Parameters for JAVA in this case are msiexec.exe /i Java.msi TRANSFORMS=install.mst /qn
Those parameters works just fine when the TS is being advertised or booted to from PXE :-/

Hello Seb,
I came to the conclusion it was the actual MSI that was making the error. I completed the TS with the "continue on error" on each package, and investigated further when all packages in the TS was either installed, og skipped due to the mentioned error.
It came down to, that two MSI was failing with the "User cancelled installationen"-error. I tried to install those two packages afterwards, but that failed aswell. This time due to mess in the registry from the first attempts in the TS. I cleaned up the
registry, and installed the packages manually.
Hope this was helpful.

I am having the same issue. Mine is failing on an Oracle 11G install package. Again, everything installs fine through all other methods. I did notice that the "Continue on Error" box was not checked, however a couple of the preceding jobs were also not
checked and they installed fine. I'll give it another go tomorrow since I have to recreate the media EVERY time you make a change....one of the downsides I've noticed.

Hi!
Did come acrose the same problem but on USB media.
I enabled the MSI loggin "/lv*" and found that the msi file was checking the name of the usb media to locate the files for the msi file.
In the msi file i lookt for label "" (Empty name)
The usb is labled SMSBOOT as default from SCCM Console.
When i renamed the usb memory to "" (Empty name)
It works wihtout any errors.
Dont know if its a bug in SCCM standalone media or if its somehing with the msi files.
All working greate with standard PXE Boot and TS installation. Only problem with StandAlone Media.
So test to recreate the DVD with no label.
