Stuck alerts
We have 3 alerts in Monitoring - Active alerts view that show status New and cannot be closed. When I try to close them using Close alert command, the console shows error message "The provided collection was either null or empty. Parameter name: alerts" with additional information: Date: 4.10.2007 8:58:09Application: System Center EssentialsApplication Version: 6.0.1251.0Severity: ErrorMessage: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: The provided collection was either null or empty.Parameter name: alerts at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.ValidationHelper.ValidationCollection[T](ICollection`1 collection, String paramName) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.ManagementGroup.UpdateMonitoringAlerts[T](IList`1 alerts, String comments) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.UI.AlertView.<ResolveAlerts>b__6(Object A_1, ConsoleJobEventArgs A_2) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ConsoleJobExceptionHandler.ExecuteJob(IComponent jobOwner, EventHandler`1 job, Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args) When I try to close them by editing the alert, error message "Your changes could not be saved. This is most likely because the alert has been deleted from the database or edited by another user" is displayed after clicking OK in the dialog. Any other way of closing the alert?

Hi, This is a known issue and will be fixed in SP1. What you can do until then is to clear the cache, this is done by staring the console with the follwoing parameter: "C:\Program Files\System Center Essentials 2007\Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.UI.Console.exe" /ClearCache Bjrn Axll MVP - Advisec AB http://blog.advisec.com

Hi Jakub, Those alerts probably don't exist anymore, and just left in the console cache. You can try to clear the cache by running the SCE console from the command line with the option: /clearcache. Example: "C:\Program Files\System Center Essentials 2007\Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.UI.Console.exe" /clearcache Hope it helps. Sincerely, Yog Li Microsoft Online Community Support
