Subscriptions using groups based on custom attributes
I want to use groups to send notificaitons. We setup attributes based on registry values we created specific to our organization. These are based on the Windows Computer class, which created the extened class for Windows Computer. The attributes are discovered and contain the correct values. Next we created groups based on this extended class and the values of the registries. These groups display the members based on the registry value and work fine. The problem arises using this group to with subscriptions. When I get a service down message from a given node I want a subscription to trigger based on the node name as defined in the group. I setup a subscription that defines the 'raised by and instance in a specific group'. When the service down alert is received the subscription does not trigger. what do I need to do to get service down and other alerts to triger based on this custom group? Thanks, David Smith

Hi It depends on how you (or the author) has defined the service monitoring - if the target class does not roll up to windows computer then you'll need to make sure the relevant classes get added to the group. http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2008/02/01/configuring-notifications-to-include-specific-alerts-from-specific-groups-and-classes.aspx This is also useful on groups: http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2010/07/27/authoring-groups-from-simple-to-complex.aspx Cheers GrahamRegards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
