System Status Critical - Availability Unknown
I have a single box running SCCM2007 and SQL Server 2005. I am getting a Site System Status of critical after a day or two of it running normally. It appears that the system can not access any of the shares on the SCCM server as the Total/Free/% Free columns all show a status of unknown. Doing my own testing I can access these shares without a problem from any remote machines, however if I try to browse to these shares from the SCCM server (to itself) I get: \\servername\share is not accessible. You might not have permission to use thi network resource..... Not enough server storage is available to process this command. When I check out the number of active sessions I can see that there are hundreds (possibly thousands) of open sessions all from Administrator from computer 127.0.0.1. The Connected time shows connections starting as far back as 6 days ago (the last time I restarted this server). Why are these connections not clearing? I assume these two issues are related. If I restart the server (or even just the server service) this clears all the connections and my Site System Status goes back to normal for a day or two until the cycles starts all over again. Any help on this would surely be appreciated. Thanks, Josh

Most of the articles out there such as this one: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;177078 Are related toan IRPStackSize entry set too low for a busy server, and usually in connection with anti-virus or backup software. If this is a VM or an underpowered machine that could explain why this happens frequently. That may or may not be your issue but essentially the operating system is returning an error from a standard Windows API call and Configuration Manager is just reporting it.

I should have mentioned that I have already tried increasing the IRPStackSize entry to the max. I have also completely uninstalled our Antivirus software. This machine is really being used just for testing. It has a 2.67Ghz processor with 2GB RAM running Server 2003 R2 SP2. There are only 10 users and machines in the SCCM database and the DB is not being used for any other purpose. Would that be considered unerpowered? What about all those sessions that are remaining active?

That is not underpowered, we have tested on VM's and physical machines with less power than that. If the system event logs aren't showing anything interesting maybe the technet Windows server forums can help. My other thought was that this may have something to do with the browser service, that might be an avenue to investigate.

I am having the same issue on an SCCM SP1 R2 secondary site, hosted on aServer 2003 Standard SP2 DC. Every hour on the hour, or whenever I restart the SMS_EXECUTIVE, I get another 8 open sessions. They keep piling up until eventually it goes off the rails, then I need to restart the server service or the server iteself to clear the issue. I can't access any shares on that server, from that server. SCCM logs show nothing of any value. Did you ever figure out what the issue was? Nick.

I tried re-applying SCCM SP1, with no improvement. Next step will be to de-install/re-install the site. After that, I can throw it back in the Server team's court.Nick.

This worked for me.http://blogs.technet.com/smsandmom/archive/2008/03/10/configmgr-2007-distribute-software-updates-wizard-returns-not-enough-server-storage-is-available-to-process-this-command.aspxdue to service account being locked up in idle state.

This worked for me. Updating the firmware and drivers of the branch distribution servers, I never have to reboot the server again.
