Task Sequence - Machine Rebuilds
Hi Guys, I have a question in regards to machine rebuilds. What I want to have happen is have a task sequence be available ONLY to Domain Administrators so that when they log onto a machine via a remote tool they can run this via "Run Advertised Programs" I think it is better than having to move the computer account to a specific OU, then wait for AD discovery before this becomes available. In other words if a user rings with an issue and it turns out we need to rebuild I want to be able to remote onto the machine as a Domain Administrator and have this task sequence available immediately (but a standard user can not run this themselves). Or is it possible for them to see the task sequence but be blocked from running it? Any ideas here? Thanks Nick

It is not possible to Advertise a Task Sequence to users. You could add a little script to your Task Sequence that prompts fot a password...My Blog: http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/

Hello - May be you can use AD security group based collection and target that collection for the TS advertisment.Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi An00p, the problem that I would have with this is replication overheads (time taken for the task sequence to appear in RAP) when having a user who wants a machine rebuilt "RIGHT NOW". As you can imagine. I will try Peter's suggestion here I believe. I found some scripts which could do the trick http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2336-password-protect-a-task-sequence/ I would be happy with the appropriate IT staff knowing the password so that they can perform these rebuilds. So people will see this but be unable to run if they do not know what the password is Thanks
