Title property not showing correctly
We had a user who just came to us saying that she had been added to a "Contact Details" web part, and it was showing some data under there that was incorrect. So I went in and looked at it, and the data in the web part wasn't matching what was in active directory. In the web part it shows her title under her name, (the wrong title), but when we go look in her Sharepoint Profile, it's a completely different title (the correct one). When we go to that web part, click on phone book icon to change users, and then find that user, it comes up with the Wrong title. :-( I had thought that Sharepoint would grab that from Active Directory. So we went in to all 3 of the domain controllers and checked her title in every one of them, and it was correct. So what we can't figure out is where is that phone book icon in the user selection window grabbing the title from? Every place we can find to list a title except that one spot has the correct title. By the way we are on MOSS 2007, sp2. Any help is greatly appreciated. Ted

The People Picker fields in SharePoint pull from the User Profile Database, which exists within the SharePoint SSP, and this database is populated via the Profile Import. You can go to the SSP Admin > User Profiles and Properties page to search for and find your user plus her profile data.SharePoint Architect || Microsoft MVP || My Blog

The problem is that when we look at that field it shows the correct title. But when you go out and look at a site it shows the incorrect title. We've tried changing the field in the SSP hoping that would refresh the data, but it didn't. The ONLY place that we can find that shows the Title field wrong, (besides on a site), is when you click on the address book icon and search for the user. Then it shows Title, with the wrong one listed. Otherwise the Profile properties, and AD, all show the correct title. Ted

After running your profile import, did you run a crawl on the content source that points to sps3:<url>? I don't know if that matters, but it's the last thing I can think of. The items you are mentioning all pull from the profile database, and there is only one, so I don't know how you could be getting different info.SharePoint Architect || Microsoft MVP || My Blog

Seems that user profile failed to synchronize from SSP user profile to the site collection. Please read this for detail: http://blogs.technet.com/paulpaa/archive/2009/10/01/user-profile-information-not-updated-on-site-collection-s-people-and-group.aspx

Hi, On the users profile page/my site host, is the information correct? (You could also check this within the SSP profile database). If the details are correct, and its only when you go to a site e.g. a team site or workspace, and view the user there; either in the site permissions or site users and the information is wrong it means that your content database is not being updated. You can check to see if you have any issues with the update by running (listolddatabases): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263196.aspxRegards, Aaron www.aaron-rendell.co.uk
