Unable to Create or Extend Web Application
Hi!
I have installed SharePoint Server 2007 on Windows Server 2008 using Active Directory service accounts. I have fixed DCOM errors as it is said on several sites...
The problem is that I can't create or extend web application - when I click either on "Create new Application" or "Extend an existing Web Application" the page is going to load forever and in the end it just won't load.
If I restart the server, first time I try to create new web application everything works perfect, but if serverstays onlinefor several minutes or if I try to create second application "Create or Extend Web Application" page hangs...
There is nothing in the logs, there were DCOM errors before, but I had added tosharepoint service account necessary permisions for IIS WAREG Application in DCOM Config and all errors disappeared ...
I am out of ideas, please help!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks,Natalya! There is nothing in "timer job status" - I mean - every job is with status "succeeded"...
This time I found this in machine system log:
System
This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain UCISD due to the following:
The remote procedure call was cancelled.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
ADDITIONAL INFO
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain controller in the specified domain.
... but I can't figure out how it is related to my problem... Ideas?

Try creating the web app using stsadm and give it time to finish (sometimes the browser will timeout or error in ways that stsadm won't). If there's something odd going on you're more likely to see the error through stsadm. Also, check your logs in the 12 hive to see if any errors are being logged.

I tried to create web app from the command line - it works fine.
I guess it is some issue with IIS 7 metabase, securityor something of this kind - first time i try to create web application from the administrative site after restart ot the server it works fine, next time it doesn't...
IfI restart the server again, it succeed the first time...
There is nothing morespecific in the logs again... I think it doesn't reach to exception, it just hangs before it...
What permissions I should gave to the service account to have access to the IIS metabase? I already done "aspnet_regiis -ga ..."...

If you think its CA related then its easy to deprovision and provision a new CA, this doesnt affect the end users or Service Applications in any way...
1.
On the server where you want to host Central Administration run >
psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs –unprovision > this will remove Central Administration
2.
Next run >
psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs -provision -port 6000 -windowsauthprovider onlyusentlm > to provision Central Administration
