Unable to connect to Oracle Data Source
I'm using SSRS 2005. I'm unable to create a new Shared Data Source, connecting to an Oracle database. I already have the Oracle client installed on my local machine. And I'm trying to create a Shared data source by clicking the Add New Data Source option. Then I select the Type as Oracle and click on the edit button for the connection string. Then I enter the server name in the dialog box and the username and passwordto log on tothe database. The I click on the Test Connection button and get the following error:
ORA-12154 : TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
Could somebody help me with this?

TNS...
I think I remember getting this error in the past..did you install the oracle instant client? Did you add the oracle / oracle instant client path to your PATH Environment Variable?
If not you will need to do that!

Thank you for your responses. The oracle client is installed and the oracle client path is added to the PATH environment variable. I still am unable to connect to the database.
Andwith regards toTau Liang's question about being able to connect to the Oracle server through SQLPlus, I'm unable to do that too.

I guess, you need to check the tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files. (I dont know how to edit it though). The files are located in C:/Oracle/ora81/Network/Admin.if you can login to sqlplus using username, password, host string you should be able to connect.

Please find out TNSNAMES.ORA file and look for the service name for oracle and try using that
it will work
