I'm new to sharepoint, and have recently installed sharepoint server 2007 onto a win 2003 server with latest service pack. I have .net 3.0 installed and ASP 2.0 is enabled in IIS. The server also has SQL server 2005 with SP2 installed on it. Everything seems to be working ok EXCEPT that when I try to edit and then save a document that was opened from a document library (for example a simple word document) I'm getting an error that says "Unable to connect to the Web server." I'm also not able to connect to the sharepoint document site within My Network Places (says the URL can not be found). However, I can browse the document library within IE7 and upload documents using the Upload function in Sharepoint. I can then click the document and open it in Edit mode. I make changes, but then when I click the save button in Word, I get the "Unable to connect the to Web server." error. Did I miss something when I installed MOSS 2007, orhave I not configured something correctly? Both the MOSS server and the computer I'm accessing it from are on an internal network and there is no firewall between them. I've tried several searches but haven't been able to find anything related to this specific error and sharepoint. Help solving this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John

It's now 2012, SharePoint 2010 has been released for a couple of years and the problem persists! No resolution in site by Microsoft. Why, because fixing faulty software does not make money!
