Unable to copy Office docs
Hi,I cannot copy Office docs from a SharePoint server to a local drive using the WebDAV client. If I rename the file extension it can be copied. I can also open the file and then Save As locally. Copying docs from a local drive to the SharePoint server works fine. The problem seems to be isolated to .doc, .xls and .ppt files accross all sites on the server.The Windows XP error is "Cannot copy ....: The parameter is incorrect". In Vista the error is "The file name you specified is not valid or too long." Mapping a drive and using xcopy: "File creation error - The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."The server is running unpatched MOSS 2007.Any advice?

I've tested from WinXP and Vista running Office 2003 and Office 2007 and the problem existed on all combinations, so I don't think the article is relevant.

Hello Oook,
This issue may be a little complex. We may need to do some test for narrowing down the problems scope. Please do them in test environment, in case the test affects your production system.
As the first step, please check if these types of files are in block list. Use the following steps:
1. Browse SharePoint Central Admin;
2. Click the Operations tab
3. Under Security Configuration, click "Blocked file types"
4. From the Web Application dropdown, select the web application hosting the files.
5. If the involved extensions are in the list, remove them.
6. Click OK
If its not the case described above. Try the second step to create a new web application within your SharePoint farm, then create a new site collection. Try to check this issue in a brand new site.
Besides, please confirm if this issue only occurs on WebDAV clients. Thanks!
Regards,
Lionel
