Unable to create Task Sequence Media
When I create bootable media to connect to CM and run a task sequence on the secrity tab I uncheck password protect and have it create a self-signed media cert I get the error "The self signed certificate can not be created successfully" Anyone have ideas of what to look at? I can't find anyone else with this issue or any requrements for this. I'm running in Mixed Mode. I added Cert Authrity to the SCCM site server.

See CreateTsMedia.log for details (%programfiles%\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminUI\AdminUILog).

Does the user running the Admin Console have the SCCM right "Manage OSD and ISV Proxy Certificates?" If not, then I'm not sure the boot media creation wizard would even be accessible, but not having that right might cause this error.

I am having the same issue described here. I have installed 3 times from scratch but the result is the same. I have followed instructions suggested in various forums, but it would seem this problem has not been fully understood. Its appearing to be one of those problems where some gets it working and forget about finding the cause. I have checked the Certificates and definitely there is no certificate in Boot Media and it fails to create one when creating bootable media. With PXE, the self signed certificate is definitely created and can be recreated, but boot media fails consistently. What else can one check to get the certificate created. The error that shows up in CreateTsMedia.log CreateTsMedia failed with error 0x80040002,Regards zizebra http://auction.joyoustimes.net

I can pass along a log value and some scenario information Log error is: Cannot acquire crypt context Scenario: Installed SCCM console on a different machine than the actual SCCM server (windows 7 x64). Not sure that I have all other pre-requisites in place or if there are group policies required to enable settings on the client machine (totally guessing). Either way it seems that something is certainly missing and this is just par for the course of what I have seen with SCCM so far. No thorough, end to end documentation. There are a lot of specialists that have a lot of knowledge, but Microsoft seems to have fallen on their face and simply decided they don't care in regards to this product.

I'm showing the exact same issue. I can, however, create ISO media, but it sure would be nice to use a USB drive.... Any luck with this?
