Unable to open the SSIS Package
Hello Friends, I am just having .dtsx file and i am getting an error message while trying to open the same. This is the error message that i am getting. Failed to open the package file "package path" due to error 0xC00CE558 "XML document must have a top level element." Kindly let me know what could be the issue on this. I would also like to know if we would be able to edit the package without the BIDS. Thanks & Regards, Murali

check this thread (not sure if it's the same problem): http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/dfd18c3f-995d-4017-a802-1e324db590a2/ Hi jjlawry, Based on the error message "Failed to open package file "C:\AlarmPro\Deployment\install 2.1 build3\PKG_LogicOneIntegration_STG.dtsx" due to error 0xC00CE558 "XML document must have a top level element."", it seems the issue is caused by the package is corrupted. To verify the issue, please open the package "C:\AlarmPro\Deployment\install 2.1 build3\PKG_LogicOneIntegration_STG.dtsx" with notepad, and check if the top level element is existing: <DTS:Executable xmlns:DTS="www.microsoft.com/SqlServer/Dts" DTS:ExecutableType="value here"> ... ... </DTS:Executable> If the package is invalid, please try to rebuild the package to fix the issue. some xml element might have been removed. Try editing the package in notepad and save it as xml file, Then open that xml file in IE and check if any xml element is removed from that. Nagaraj
