Unable to upgrade my sccm 2007 to R2
hello,
I just finished to setup my lab, and i installed my sccm on a windows 2008 r2.
Now that i want to install the R2 i'm getting a weird message "The evaluation version of microsoft system center configuration manager r2 can pnly be installed on an evaluation configuration manager service pack 1 site or higher".
when i open up my sccm console, i right click my server (under the site management category), and in the properties i can see that the build number is 6487. the site server name is the correct, also the sms provider location seems to be configured correctlly.
One thing i can see in the bottom, is the parent site is configred as none.
When i press the "set parent site", i can see the window pop-up and i choose "central site", after that i press OK, but nothing changes, even after restarting the server.
Please help me out here, what am i doing wrong?

As I see it you have two questions.
1) Install R2 on the site server. Do you have R2 installed on the Central site? Is it a full version or eval version you have installed?
2) Configure the site as a child site. Make sure you have exchange the keys between the two sites and configured the correct adresses and permissions. For more info check these articles -

Hi Kent.
1. i'm trying to install on my small lab domain the R2 in the server that i just finished installing the SP1.
about the question if it's an evaluation version, or full version, i belive that this is an evaluation version (according to the message i post in the beginning).
2. i don't want to configure the site as a chile site, becuase this is a small lab i raised from scratch to practice on sccm. (i'm sorry for not mentioning on the beginning that this is a lab enviroment).

Not really sure where the confusion lies as the message is quite clear. If you are using a fully licensed version of COnfigMgr (that you maybe downloaded from MSDN, TechNet or your MVLS site), you cannot install the eval version of R2 on it -- you must also
use the R2 media obtained through the same channel that you acquired the ConfigMgr media from.
One clarifying point here is that R2 (and R3) are not service packs and they are not free. Thus, the R2 (and R3) media that you can freely download from Microsoft downloads is just an eval version which you cannot install on a non-eval versino of ConfigMgr.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys
