Updates not applying to 2012 servers

Hi guys,

Our ConfigMgr server is 2012R2 with SUP.

I have noticed that our 2012 servers are not applying updates.

Checking in the WindowsUpdate.log for these servers I can see the following: WARNING: Failed to get Wu Exemption info from NLM, assuming not exempt, error = 0x80240037

Checking online and most are suggesting installing a WSUS update KB2734608 But our WSUS is v6.2 and I do not believe this update is applicable.

The UpdatesDeployment.log shows this (but no actual errors): No current service window available to run updates assignment with time required = 1 Attempting to install 0 updates

I have confirmed the maintenance windows for the servers via the built in report.

Any help getting these servers patched would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: SCEP updates are being applied ok.

Regards,
Locust12

SCEP updates could be coming from a different source.

Here are a couple of other threads that may help:

The errors are spread through the file, I have copied a few repeating ones here and linked the full file via Dropbox.

Yes, you are correct. I did select to get these from MS if unable to contact the DP for them.

I have also confirmed that the reg keys are pointing the server to our SCCM server for updates.
This environment was not migrated and has always used port 8530, Require SSL communication is not checked.

I will need to check some client machines with 8.1 update 1 applied and see if they are experiencing the same problem as the 2012 servers.

Hi all, thanks for your help, I have located the cause of this.

I had removed the Client Settings telling this to update via SCCM.

Our maintenance windows are scheduled for a few hours from now so I cannot give a definitive answer just yet but I strongly suspect this to be the cause.

Again, thanks for the help.

@Locust12,

I too have the same issue you describe - I'm keen to understand why you would tell the client *NOT* to use SCCM as your update source???

Which client setting are you specifically referring to?

Thanx in advance,

Dave
