User unable to secure file using RMS

Hi guys,

One of our employees is having trouble securing Office 2013 files using RMS.
When she tries she is presented with the following error:

Our RMS server is Windows 2003 R2.

This is only happening with one employee. I have confirmed that I can logon to her machine and successfully secure documents. Getting her to try on a different machine still fails.

I have inherited this system about 3 years ago and have not had any issues until now. I have checked the Windows RMS Administration page but cannot find anything relating to specific users.

Any advice on how to get this resolved would be greatly appreciated.
If there is any other information needed please let me know.

Hi Locust -

Can you confirm that the user has the email address attribute populated in Active Directory?  That would be the first place I would look.  The problem seems to be with the specific user account.

Thanks,

Hi Micah,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I can confirm the email field for their AD account is populated with the users primary SMTP address.
This is actually one thing I checked prior to opening this ticket. I seen it mentioned in another thread.

Yes it is just this one user having this issue.

Hi Locust -

I would suggest checking to see if the AD RMS URL is listed in the Local Intranet Security Zone in IE.  Perhaps it may have been deleted for the particular user?

Failing that, I would suggest running client-side tracing to see what error messages you receive.  Here's a link that walks you through the process: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7700.ad-rms-troubleshooting-client-side-tracing.aspx

Hi Micah,

Thanks again for the replay and sorry for the delayed response.
EOFY help me up with being able to use the trace tool as this user couldn't afford the time.

I should get to test this out in the next few days and update then.
