Using the SCCM Management console from Desktop
Hi all,We currently have SCCM installed on a server at 3 seperate sites. All sites have discovered clients and everything is working well. The only problem is that our laptop (by default) have the firewall on with the exceptions to allow us to connect to them via our SCCM server and no-where else. What we will need is for all engineers at each site to be able to use the remote tools functionality from their own desktop without having to rely on them logging onto the SCCM server(S)How can we achieve this?Oh, our current set up is one central site and the remaining 2 being parent/child of centralAndrew

The only problem is that our laptop (by default) have the firewall on with the exceptions to allow us to connect to them via our SCCM server and no-where else. The only way to achieve that would be changing the firewall rules or using a terminal services solution to provide the ConfigMgr console.

Torsten, Is this true with the entire functionality of the SCCM console, or are you able to view the SCCM console from an engineer's desktop station rather than logging into the server?-- Octavian Dm MCP Windows XP

You can install the ConfigMgr console on whatever supported OS and manage the site using this remote console. No need to RDP into the server.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Alright. Thanks. I installed it from the SCCM cd on my workstation. Also to note for people who might find this later, the install of the SCCM Right Click Tools, SMS Client Center and SMS Collection Commander should be done on the local workstation for them to be present.-- Octavian Dm MCP Windows XP
