I receive an error when run system health report stating "The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out". I called Dell but they were not aware of the problem. Any idea about the cause of this error? Thank you

This is nothing to do with SCE product at all.

I have recently purchased a PC with Vista Basic Home Edition OS. I alsotried (as in Alpers message) generating a System Health Report but it came up with exactly the same ' timed out' error. It seems odd that PCs from different manufacturers (Dell and HP) share the same problem but has nothing to do with the Vista OS.

Make that 3 manufacturers. You can add Gateway to the list. Yes, Mr. Kikkuru, your post was not very helpful, It seemed very "party line" vague. No help at all. Could you be more specific in your defense as to why Vista is not a piece of junk? How about explaining WHY if you can?

I have the same thing just started today, when trying to generate a system health report I get this error. An error has occured while attemping to generate the report ( The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out.) I just ran one last night after some updates and it worked fine, now nothing but this error. Dose anyone from Microsoft Technet watch this site or is it a everyone just try to help one another type thing. I have a brand new gateway by the way not even 6 months old. the OS is Windows Vista Home Premium .

Same problem on a 9 month old Acer,O.S Vista Home Premium .I did manage to generateone system health reportabout two months ago,which took 61 seconds,i wonder if it is possible to increase the timeout values from60 seconds to say90 seconds as the "The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out"message appearsaround80 seconds.

4 month old acer just started the same thing. it was working fine (I had been using it that day), untill I used a free regcure scan.

Do you people ( M$ ) have any solutions, or at least some kind of answer yet? This feature has NEVER worked on my Vista GatewaySINCE I PURCHASED IT! I can't believe you can actually get away with dropping such *** on the public and thenoffering "nothing to do with vista" as some kind of answer! You just ran away with nary an explanation, and look...there are several people owning PCs of different manufacture, who are saying the same thing.

I was having the same problem for the last six months on a Gateway GT5464 that I have onely had for eaight months.Every time I want to Generate a system health report I got this error saying The Wait for the Report Generation Tool to finish has Timed Out.I was fooling around and all the sudden it works every time,dont know if it will work for you buthere is what I didStep1:I turned on my PCStep2:My welcome center opened so I closed itStep3:I made sure no other windows were openStep4:I reopen welcome center clicked show moredetails,click edexperience index,advanced tools,ect.Step5:I generate a system health report and at the same time I close all other windows except the system health report window If that does not work I found that configureing my security center to monitor my McAfee anti-virus speeds things up try that and follow the steps again good luck.

I tried those steps but I still get the same message "The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out." Is there any other way to fix this? Thanks

I just started getting the same error with the system health report after installing the updates that came out on the 11th of January 2011.
