WAIK problems?
Hi all. We have recently upgraded our SCCM from SP1 R2 to SP2 R3. We had quite a few problems during the upgrade, but they seem to be sovled now. My only problem ATM is that i cant create a new bootimage, using the console wizzard (Create Boot image using Microsoft Deployment). During the generation i get the following error: Error while importing Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Task Sequence. Details: PEIMG failed, rc = 1. See %TMP%\NewBootImage_x86.log for more information. When i follow to that log i get: Exception occurred generating Windows PE image: System.Exception: PEIMG failed, rc = 1. See C:\Users\dadni\AppData\Local\Temp\2\NewBootImage_x86.log for more information. at Microsoft.BDD.ConfigManager.PEManager.Generate()Copying C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\x86\WINPE.WIM to C:\Users\dadni\AppData\Local\Temp\2\winpe.wimMounting image to C:\Users\dadni\AppData\Local\Temp\2\PE20_mount.x86Installing optional components. Starting: "C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\peimg.exe" "C:\Users\dadni\AppData\Local\Temp\2\PE20_mount.x86\windows" /install=*Scripting* /quiet >> "C:\Users\dadni\AppData\Local\Temp\2\NewBootImage_x86.log" 2>&1 '"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\peimg.exe"' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Exit code = 1 Exception occurred generating Windows PE image: System.Exception: PEIMG failed, rc = 1. See C:\Users\dadni\AppData\Local\Temp\2\NewBootImage_x86.log for more information. It seems like it is still trying to use PEIMG, but as far as i know, this were changed in SP2 and replaced by DISM? Why is it still trying to use PEIMG then? Is there any alternatives building the bootimage? Thanks Dennis

When you upgrade SCCM from SP1 to SP2 you should also upgrade WAIK to WAIK 2.0 (WAIK for Windows 7).

Im sorry i am so slow at replying. Thanks Eirik, but should'nt the upgrade do it itself? I suppose i allready have WAIK 2.0 since, when i start a command promt and types DISM, it recognices the command.

Waik 1.1 should be uninstalled before SP2 is installed, and if you do it this way you get 2.0 automatically. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee344152.aspx

Exactly, and so we did. But still the wizzard tries to use piemg instead.

That sounds weird, I have to admit. My best bets are that you have to reimport the MDT Task Sequence templates as the old ones are based on MDT with WAIK 1.1 and/or that you have to reintegrate MDT with ConfigMgr. Sorry, but I don't have any definitive answers to this one...

Its allright, you just confirmed what I were fearing :) Thank you for your comments. Will probably try it in this weekend, and writes the result.
