WSS 3.0 SP2 Calendar Incoming E-mail Problem
Hope someone can help me out.I have a WSS 3.0 SP2 site with incoming e-mail enabled.Incoming messages work fine for announcements.I am trying to get calendars working with incoming email however it seems dependant upon the email client (or servers) that the end user is using as to whether or not the calendaritem will appear. I have enabled emails from any sender for the period of this testing.I right click on a calendar entry in Outlook the foward it to the WSS calendar email address and I get the error below. I have also fowarded the email to another accounts, thenfowarded again onto WSS. Some of these other accounts email fowards correctly appear in WSS.It appears to be either client or server handling of the calendar attachment that is the issue. All emails appear in the email drop folder however if the calendar email is not encoded in base64 then the .eml file is deleted and the WSS calendar is not updated. An error is generated in the WSS log files:Windows SharePoint Services 3 E-Mail Event ID: 6873An error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail file C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop\0db10ec001c9d83400000032.eml. The error was: Value cannot be null.Parameter name: stream.Below are extracts from the .eml files as they are delivered to the drop folder. This calendar item will not appear and generates the error above:------_=_NextPart_003_01C9D508.6F9CEE20Content-class: urn:content-classes:appointmentContent-Type: text/calendar;method=REQUEST;charset="utf-8"Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit BEGIN:VCALENDARMETHOD:REQUESTPRODID:Microsoft CDO for Microsoft ExchangeVERSION:2.0BEGIN:VTIMEZONETZID:(GMT+10.00) Hobart/TasmaniaX-MICROSOFT-CDO-TZID:42BEGIN:STANDARDDTSTART:16010101T030000TZOFFSETFROM:+1100TZOFFSETTO:+1000RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=MO;INTERVAL=1;BYMONTH=4;BYDAY=1SUEND:STANDARDBEGIN:DAYLIGHTDTSTART:16010101T020000TZOFFSETFROM:+1000TZOFFSETTO:+1100RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=MO;INTERVAL=1;BYMONTH=10;BYDAY=1SUEND:DAYLIGHTEND:VTIMEZONEBEGIN:VEVENTDTSTAMP:20090519T000205ZDTSTART;TZID="(GMT+10.00) Hobart/Tasmania":20090521T100000SUMMARY:TestUID:040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E0080000000010484B415CD5C90100000000000000001000000004DCC6B59E1CE64E96C9996D45288FB7ORGANIZER;CN="xxx xxx xx":MAILTO:xxxx.xxx.comLOCATION:Testing the CalendarDTEND;TZID="(GMT+10.00) Hobart/Tasmania":20090521T103000DESCRIPTION:\NSEQUENCE:0PRIORITY:5CLASS:CREATED:20090515T025401ZLAST-MODIFIED:20090518T215629ZSTATUS:TENTATIVETRANSP:OPAQUEX-MICROSOFT-CDO-BUSYSTATUS:BUSYX-MICROSOFT-CDO-INSTTYPE:0X-MICROSOFT-CDO-INTENDEDSTATUS:BUSYX-MICROSOFT-CDO-ALLDAYEVENT:FALSEX-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1X-MICROSOFT-CDO-OWNERAPPTID:-1X-MICROSOFT-CDO-APPT-SEQUENCE:0X-MICROSOFT-CDO-ATTENDEE-CRITICAL-CHANGE:20090517T220649ZEND:VEVENTEND:VCALENDARThis calendar item will appear:---MOQ12426914154633330dc3f491c8e1495c69de35f07eContent-Type: text/calendar; name="unnamed"Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="unnamed" QkVHSU46VkNBTEVOREFSDQpNRVRIT0Q6UkVRVUVTVA0KUFJPRElEOk1pY3Jvc29mdCBDRE8gZm9yIE1pY3Jvc29mdCBFeGNoYW5nZQ0KVkVSU0lPTjoyLjANCkJFR0lOOlZUSU1FWk9ORQ0KVFpJRDooR01UKzEwLjAwKSBIb2JhcnQvVGFzbWFuaWENClgtTUlDUk9TT0ZULUNETy1UWklEOjQyDQpCRUdJTjpTVEFOREFSRA0KRFRTVEFSVDoxNjAxMDEwMVQwMzAwMDANClRaT0ZGU0VURlJPTTorMTEwMA0KVFpPRkZTRVRUTzorMTAwMA0KUlJVTEU6RlJFUT1ZRUFSTFk7V0tTVD1NTztJTlRFUlZBTD0xO0JZTU9OVEg9NDtCWURBWT0xU1UNCkVORDpTVEFOREFSRA0KQkVHSU46REFZTElHSFQNCkRUU1RBUlQ6MTYwMTAxMDFUMDIwMDAwDQpUWk9GRlNFVEZST006KzEwMDANClRaT0ZGU0VUVE86KzExMDANClJSVUxFOkZSRVE9WUVBUkxZO1dLU1Q9TU87SU5URVJWQUw9MTtCWU1PTlRIPTEwO0JZREFZPTFTVQ0KRU5EOkRBWUxJR0hUDQpFTkQ6VlRJTUVaT05FDQpCRUdJTjpWRVZFTlQNCkRUU1RBTVA6MjAwOTA1MThUMjIwOTE2Wg0KRFRTVEFSVDtUWklEPSIoR01UKzEwLjAwKSBIb2JhcnQvVGFzbWFuaWEiOjIwMDkwNTIxVDEwMDAwMA0KU1VNTUFSWTpUZXN0DQpVSUQ6MDQwMDAwMDA4MjAwRTAwMDc0QzVCNzEwMUE4MkUwMDgwMDAwMDAwMDEwNDg0QjQxNUNENUM5MDEwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDANCiAwMTAwMDAwMDAwNERDQzZCNTlFMUNFNjRFOTZDOTk5NkQ0NTI4OEZCNw0KT1JHQU5JWkVSO0NOPSJXaGl0ZSwgUm9iZXJ0IEMiOk1BSUxUTzpXaGl0ZS5Sb2JlcnQuQ0BlZHVtYWlsLnZpYy5nb3YuYXUNCkxPQ0FUSU9OOlRlc3RpbmcgdGhlIENhbGVuZGFyDQpEVEVORDtUWklEPSIoR01UKzEwLjAwKSBIb2JhcnQvVGFzbWFuaWEiOjIwMDkwNTIxVDEwMzAwMA0KREVTQ1JJUFRJT046XE4NClNFUVVFTkNFOjANClBSSU9SSVRZOjUNCkNMQVNTOg0KQ1JFQVRFRDoyMDA5MDUxNVQwMjU0MDFaDQpMQVNULU1PRElGSUVEOjIwMDkwNTE4VDIxNTYyOVoNClNUQVRVUzpURU5UQVRJVkUNClRSQU5TUDpPUEFRVUUNClgtTUlDUk9TT0ZULUNETy1CVVNZU1RBVFVTOkJVU1kNClgtTUlDUk9TT0ZULUNETy1JTlNUVFlQRTowDQpYLU1JQ1JPU09GVC1DRE8tSU5URU5ERURTVEFUVVM6QlVTWQ0KWC1NSUNST1NPRlQtQ0RPLUFMTERBWUVWRU5UOkZBTFNFDQpYLU1JQ1JPU09GVC1DRE8tSU1QT1JUQU5DRToxDQpYLU1JQ1JPU09GVC1DRE8tT1dORVJBUFBUSUQ6LTENClgtTUlDUk9TT0ZULUNETy1BUFBULVNFUVVFTkNFOjANClgtTUlDUk9TT0ZULUNETy1BVFRFTkRFRS1DUklUSUNBTC1DSEFOR0U6MjAwOTA1MTdUMjIwNjQ5Wg0KRU5EOlZFVkVOVA0KRU5EOlZDQUxFTkRBUg0K ---MOQ12426914154633330dc3f491c8e1495c69de35f07e--Does anyone have any ideas?ThanksRob

Hi Rob,I got the same problem and it looks like i solved it by changing the default message format for my sharepoint farm. I doesn't work when I send the emails in Outlook Rich Text ormat. When I change the default format to "never use Exchange rich-text format" on my exchange server (create a new remote domain for your sharepoint farm in exchange 2007) it works fine (for the moment).hope it works for you too!cheers!Jack

Hi Christian... How did you you change the default message format for your sharepoint farm? I am experiencing this same problem, but only when I create a mail contact in exchange for the calendar.... works find if you just send direct to the calendar's email address (ie calendar@home.sharepointserver.com.au). thanks Kirk

Worked it out, when creating a mail contact in Exchange for a sharepoint calendar, you need to make sure that “Use MAPI rich text format” is set to NEVER.
