WSS 3.0 and Intranet Site (404 Not Found)
I set up an Intranet site using IIS 6.0. The main site page is something like http://pan/environet/main.aspx.
Then I installed WSS 3.0, which seems to work fine, but now I can't access my Intranet page anymore. The TCP port number 80 was taken over by WSS and the EnviroNet web site was stopped. I changed the EnviroNet web site to a different number (1029; I have no idea what to pick) and restarted the site. But sadly, I just get a 404 Not Found message when I try to access the Intranet site.
Any ideas? I can't find anything in help. When I set this up on an older server a few years ago, I was running WSS 2.0. That version allowed me to exclude paths of other sites. WSS 3.0 doesn't seem to have this feature, and from what I gather, it shouldn't need it. But I'm still running into problems since apparently WSS wants to be king to the exclusion of other sites on my server.

I found the answer myself.
Retain port number 80 for each of my non-SharePoint intranet sites.
Add a uniqueHost Header Value to each unique web site. (Don't need unique IP address -- just keep it as All unassigned).
Call the DNS administrator and ask that the host name be added to the DNS -- mine added them as alias names.
For each unique Intranet site, add the name of the main startup page under Enable default content page of the Documents tab of the IIS web site. Otherwise, the message Directory Listing Denied pops up on a web page when you try to access the site.
Now I can type in http://environet/ in my web browser's address bar and it takes me to the main page of that site.
