WebPart access denied error
I have a web part on SharePoint Portal web site default page. When I login asAdministrator, the default page shows up perfect. But I will get the following error when login as users other than Administrator. Can someone help me on this issue? Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator. I recreate this error on another machine, another web site. Still administrator works fine. But all other users will get "Access Denied" error. Thanks in advance, Peter

Is this a custom web part? Most likely it is trying to access areas that standard users do not have access to. If you have the code add try / catch blocks everywhere and look at SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges to solve this. Otherwise please post a little most info about the control. Cheers

James, Thanks for the quick response. It is the build in Content Query Web Part. I use CQWP on default page to access ArticlePage in Pages library and display news onthe home page. Only when I login as system account, the web part displayscontent. I tried this KB article, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919550, target the Web Part to the audience. still no luck. Any idea about this one? Thanks again for your help. Peter

We have the same behavior on our production site. Were you able to solve the problem?

It will do this if the user doesn't have access to every resource and piece of content used to generate the display. It can definitely get confusing when trying to expose content from another website.SharePoint Developer | Administrator | Evangelist -- Twitter -- Blog - http://nextconnect.blogspot.com

I have checked the style libraries, master page galleries. All of the items in the list are checked-in and approved. I am not sure of other places, where to check. Please share thoughts.

This issue was escalated to MS and was never resolved by them. The bad news is we had to recreate the production site collection and then export each sub web and the content and import back to new site collection. We had many hours of multiple developers on the issue and never resolved. I think corrupt content database or site collection but cannot be sure.
