What Makes Up the ACL?
The original error came from the MOSS Search 2007, where the crawl log was displaying that a sub-site was not crawled because "The parameter is incorrect." Through searching the Web, we've figured out that its because our ACL is over the limit: which is
likely correct, because we have one SharePoint group that has > 1,900 users.
So if the root error is the ACL is too large, we can fix that by not using SharePoint groups.
What I can't seem to find is: What makes up this ACL?
I know it's a Windows system file, but what objects does it contain? Every user in the User Information List? Every group in the Site Permissions List? Some multiplication of those?
We're clearly over the limit with one SharePoint group of 1,900 users, but can I split it into two groups if I wanted (not best practice, I know).
Thanks for any insight on this!Joe
