What are those databases: WSS_Content_********-****-****-*** *********?
MOSS 2007- medium farm - dedicated SQL 2005. I have some conent databases which must be created by sharepoint. Their names are like: WSS_Content_********-****-****-************ I can find any of them in the central admin databases. What are they?Sara

WSS_Content_{GUID} databases are all created when ever you create an application in SharePoint. If you deleted the application they will can still be left behind. If you created SSP you would have created an application to host it and to host mysites. they will create WSS_Content_{GUID} databases for them. you can look in Central Admin->application management -> Content databases to see which application is using which databases. You can switch between web applications by selecting the yellow web application link at the top and selecting change web application. HTH Nagesh S Days and years do not mean anything to me. Hi, I agree with Nagesh. When SharePoint 2007 creates new Content Databases(application/site), by default it adds a GUID to the end of the database name. http://blogs.technet.com/b/seanearp/archive/2009/03/14/renaming-crazy-sharepoint-database-names.aspx HTH. Thanks, Skancharla
