Why SCCM server pings private network adresses?
My SCCM SP2 R3 server pings 192.168.x network. Why is this happening? My network team do not like this.
How can I prevent this?

ConfigMgr does not ping any computers - exception: you've installed the client status reporting tool (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161853.aspx) and configured it to
ping resources.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hello - I think, this not SCCM issue? Try to check the network configuration. Try IPCONFIG /all..Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually

could also be a Network discovery configuration, check that and see if the metohds is enabled.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi
Yes I have client status reporting tool.
I have selected Ping inactive client and schedule is every working day at 00:00:00.
How to ged rid of these adresses?

you need to stop pinging inactive clients.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Am I only one who uses this functionality?
Is it totally needless action (pinging inactive client)?

It depends, on how you use the Client status reporting feature. You could stat implementing a startup script to perform the client check and reinstall the cliet if it's not working.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

I have mobile users with laptops, which they connect to their home local networks where they get these adresses from local routers and SCCM client captures this IP address and when user brings this laptop to work, SCCM client report these IP addresses to
server.
Am I right? Is this a behaviour of SCCM client?

No, you are not. Either you need (then convince the network team that they should stop complaining about those pings once a day) or you don't need this this functionality (then turn pinging off). That's your decision.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
