Writing Multi-Column Reports
Can someone help me! I want do a report with two columns, similar to a traditional newspaper column where data flows down multiple adjacent columns using SQL server 2005 reporting services.I tried this example described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155816(SQL.90).aspxBut still can't get it. Is there a better way?

Have you tried these
Create subscriptions that deliver reports as .pdf or .tiff files to a shared folder location.
Use URL access to deploy the report. You can specify PDF or IMAGE rendering extension on the report URL, ensuring that the report always opens in an output format that supports multiple columns.

Thank for responding.
I did both, export it as .pdf file and use URL to deploy it. I am still not getting the second column.
Thank you.

Make sure that the body.Width of your report is small enough such that two columns will fit in one PageWidth including margins.
The defaults will be:
(8.5" (paper) - left and right margin - columnspacing) / 2 is the max width. Otherwise, the body of the report will 'spill' into the other column.

Thank you so much.
I found it easier with crystal.

I agree that it is easier in Crystal than in SSRS 2008 to create a multi-column report. The main problem I see in SSRS 2008 is to design the layout very accuratley.Once this done, you can format the muti-columns.Here is my first shot at a two-column report. Needs improvement of course.http://hodentek.blogspot.com/2009/04/picture-from-2-column-report-in-ssrs.htmlmysorian

Has anyone been able to get background images to work with multi column reports? I have a report that renders 2 columns by 2 rows - I need a back ground image to display in each of these "cells" - so in this case my back ground image would show 4 times
- I can get it to show for column 1 x row 1, but the rest just show my raw data - no bkgrd image.
