XP machines losing network connection after update
Is anyone else having this problem? I'm having a problem with multiple computers on the network that are getting an update and then the network connection quits working. The only way I can get it back working again is to replace the tcpip.sys file to an old version or restore the computer to a date previous to the install or to wipe the system and completely redux the pc. It is just older random computers but quite a few.

Of course this is in reference to SCE... This has only happened since the time I installed the monitoring agent. So unless it's a very strange coincidence than it is SCE related.

Hi,The monitoring agent will not replace the file tcpip.sys. I've read thatthe sober virus that can do this. You can check if the agents had been infectedby thevirus. Thanks,Yog Li - MSFT

I checked one pc forthe Sobervirus with the Symantec fix to no avail. I'm still hopeful that the pc is only infected though and the rest with this problem. I will update the post if I find something.

I installed AVG and ended up finding Trojan horse: PSW.Generic6.XUA. After removing it I rebooted and it had another update waiting and same problem still. I'm not sure why the updates are installing only one at a time a day it seems but I might try SP3 next. If I find the solution I'll post it.

SP3 Fixed it! Thanks for assistance... Well, I should say removing the Generic virus and installing Service Pack 3 fixed it...
