coming upto speed quickly in Sharepoint 2007
Our office needs to do some work(sharing documents being edited by all office members, putting our annual calendar on a common web-page which all office members can view/edit). The Sharepoint admin for our organization has created a site for us so that
we can go and create our own sites, share documents and so on.
I want to come quickly to speed on Sharepoint basics. My background is mainly as a ColdFusion/Flex developer and I am a complete newbie to Sharepoint. I have used it before, but only to edit some content in a document shared by a team.
I can get below books from my library
3374 Getting Started with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (HOLs)
Beginning SharePoint 2007 - Building Team Solutions with MOSS 2007; Amanda Murphy, Shane Perran (Wrox, 2007).
Beginning SharePoint 2007 Administration - Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007; Gran Husman (Wrox,
2007)
CustomGuide Microsoft SharePoint 2007
Essential SharePoint 2007 - Delivering High-Impact Collaboration Solutions;
Scott Jamison, Mauro Cardarelli, Susan Hanley (Addison-Wesley 2007)
Essential SharePoint 2007, Second Edition; Jeff Webb (O'Reilly, 2007)
INSIDE MICROSOFT WINDOWS SHAREPOINT SERVICES 3.0; TED PATTISON, DANIEL LARSON (MS PRESS, 2007)
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 - A Beginners Guide (McGraw-Hill, 2008)
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 - The Complete Reference (McGraw-Hill, 2008)
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Administrator's Companion - MS Press 2007
Microsoft SharePoint 2007 For Dummies; Vanessa L. Williams (Wiley, 2007)
Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Unleashed - Sams 2007
OReilly SharePoint 2007 The Definitive Guide
SharePoint 2007 and Office Development Expert Solutions (Wrox, 2007)
1. Which one should I use for my needs to come to speed quickly in Sharepoint or is there any book not listed above which would help me better?
2. What are the core concepts I need to be aware of while using Sharepoint? I did some quick reading on the Wikipedia.
Any suggestions to other tutorial books, links would be appreciated.

Assuming that you are not planning to start with development, the best book for your needs of the ones you list (and I have seen most of them) is imo the second one listed. (Beginning SharePoint 2007 - Building Team Solutions with MOSS 2007; Amanda
Murphy, Shane Perran (Wrox, 2007).
[The best one of those for development would be INSIDE MICROSOFT WINDOWS SHAREPOINT SERVICES 3.0; TED PATTISON, DANIEL LARSON (MS PRESS, 2007)] (too lazy to remove the Caps)
PLUG: If you are only going to be using WSS 3.0 (or want only the basics that are in both WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007) you could consider my Sams Teach Yourself SharePoint 2007: Using Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. However given the wide list of other books
you can get at more easily - and especially given the presence in your list of the Amanda Murphy/Shane Perron book, there's no need.
Q 2. Is too wide-reaching for any forum reply. The book recommended above will give you enough background.
2010 Books:
SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc.
2007 Books:
WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow
Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.

Thanks Mike,
I will go through the Beginning SharePoint 2007 - Building Team Solutions with MOSS 2007; Amanda Murphy, Shane Perran (Wrox, 2007).
I will try to get your book(Sams Teach Yourself SharePoint 2007) also through my library after I complete the above one to gain basics of W33 3.0 and MOSS 2007. They have to get it as a inter-library loan so it might take a couple of weeks before they get
it.
I appreciate your advice and time.
