WillWCM move all the contents, workflow and pages modified by sharepoint designer3. which user should have permission to do this-> is it site collection adinistrator or farm administrator4. If both your staging and product are on moss 2007 then it should be a breeze. Yes your customization will move as well, as well as permissions. You need to make sure that: - both areas staging and production are running the same software, moss 2007 - all patches have been applied Once you are ready to migrate your content, you need to : 1- In central administration of the server receiving the content in moss 07, under operations and content deployment, click on content deployment settings. click on accept incoming job request. then choose your import server under the same setting. 2- click on content deployment path and jobs under operations and content deployment in moss 07's administration site, on the server from which the content will be migrated.Click on new pathThere you configure the content you want to have deployed. 3- click on content deployment path and jobs under operations and content deployment in moss 07's administration site, on the server from which the content will be migrated. Click on new job and set your schedule to run. Hope this help, Chris, D MCTS Sharepoint 2007 http://www.moss07.org

Hi, Will webparts and site hierarchies also be deployed? And where do features come in.Or do i create a solution package? the scenario i want to follow is: I develop in a development environment..development and cofiguration (columns and content types)... i deploy to test and when the customer is satisfied i want to deploy to production. How can ibest set this up. I also have infopath forms which submit and retrieve data on my development. I guess this won't work on production (with different url etc) many tnx for all help

What is the best way to import all the stuff I've developed in my staging enviroment to my live server. Is there any "MOSS 2007 from staging to production enviroment" tutorial enywhere?

Hi, according to everything i've read and done with moss myself, Featuresare, in most scenario's,the way the go! If you want to deploy really neat pack it into a solution. Sometimes it might be quicker to just use the interface and sharepoint designer..... But is not very manageable But for small deployments it can be appropriate for nowm. you can, of course also use backup restore in the firste place and later on develop features.. cheers

Another option to consider is using the stsadm import/export commands. If you run into issues with things not working with these due to IDs changing then you can use a custom version of the import command which can be found here: http://stsadm.blogspot.com/2007/08/stsadm-commands_09.html. The command of interest is import2 (it has the ability to pass in a retainobjectidentity parameter).
