how to install FIM sync standby server
I have FIM sync installed with build 3594 and it working fine. We want to introduce a FIM sync standby server.
Can any one guide me ?
when I will install second FIM sync server (Standby) , it will ask for SQL server name which will the same to which current FIM sync is pointing.
Also service account details which is OK . My concern is ,
1- Should not interupt the current FIM sync server function and setup should not make standby server as active server.
2-what about the key while installing ?AdiKumar

Whenever I've done a standby server it's been with a separate database, and then a regular sql backup-restore job to transfer the database. When you're ready to activate the standby server you run miisactivate.exe. You need a copy of the key
file to activate the standby server. http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

We have SQL (clustered) and FIM sync on different machines. So if FIM sync goes down then we have SQL up and runnning .
As per you , i have to install FIM sync on a standby machine and point it to a new db , then restore original fim sync db , then all MAs etc.
correct me if I am wrong ,Currently we have latest build of FIM and suppose FIM sync goes down. Then we installing FIM sync with older build . it going to cause issues with the fim sync db version ?

Yes it will cause issues. The version of the FIM service must exactly match the version of the database.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis
