When trying to view any site, including Central Admin, on our farm the browser returns an HTTP/500 error. Hi,we need more info to troubleshoot thisyou ever been able to access Central Administration? When did it stop working and is there something in particular that was installed or changed? On what port is it? Do you have the most recent Service Pack(s) installed? Is this WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007?Next, open IIS Manager and make sure the Central Administration site is started. At the command prompt, type iisreset /noforce and try again. There are many other things you can check for, but this is a good starting point!Best Regards, Ammar MCT http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

We were using the Central Admin just this morning. We have had sites in production for at least several months. We first noticed the issue shortly after 9am this morning. Nothing new installed or changed. Central Admin is on port 7303 and all the service packs and patches are on the box except for IE8. MOSS 2007 All Sharepoint sites are running. If Central Admin wasn't enabled we would get an HTTP/404 rather than a 500 right? iisreset didn't fixit.

Great. We are bailing on troubleshooting this. We have no time and apparently no one has any solutions or even hints at solutions. Time for an attempt at restoring from backups and failing that a clean install.
