owssvr.dll- Action cannot be completed.
Hi,I got stuck with this error for the past two days without any workaround to fix it.Action desc: I was trying to use the owssvr.dll to query a custom list in my sharepoint site to view it in XML format. I typed the below query in the web broswer http://moss-dev/sites/ShareMe/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={%7B907C966D%2D848F%2D4A13%2DB08E%2D242C133A05CB%7D}&Query=*&XMLDATA=TRUEThis throws me the error: Cannot complete this action.I found in the internet following issues may cause problems:1.Upgrade stsadm.exe- I have done this with no luck2.Change read only access to content database- I looked into the database and already the read only property is set to false.3.Installed this hotfix 358326-No luckI am the administrator of this site with full control.I sense some sort of security configuration has to be changed. I appreciate if anyone can help me. That would be really great.

Hi Lily,Thanks for your reply.Actually I tried almost all the possible ways mentioned in various websites. But it didn't worked out in my environment. But when I tried querying in another environment it was working. What I found is OWSSVR dll works only with custom list. That too not in all the custom list. It works for some custom list and throws error for others. I dunno wats the problem. I will try to figure it whats the constraint behind it to throw error and will post the answer here. I have almost spend 3 days for this issue. Will let you know the update.Regards,

Dear Sir
Warmest greetings
I faced this problem this morning Moss2010 , When I try to call list address such /owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={AD2F39FF-C953-4E0B-BD25-00F605DD2EAC}&XMLDATA=TRUE I got no action ,
so I tried to create default view sorted for this list and I got result such as
/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={AD2F39FF-C953-4E0B-BD25-00F605DD2EAC}&View={77CB2496-2B22-4523-B189- DB6B39ACCD9E}&XMLDATA=TRUE

I did the same thing. Notice that in your URL (after &List=) you have {%7B... Actually, %7B = {, so just kill that. For clarity's sake, I use the { and }, therefore: &List={907C...}&Query...
