patch SCCM Servers
Hi all,
We have an SCCM server farm, roles are installed on dedicated server for high availability.
P_SCCM1, Is the Site Database Server SQL Node 1 (active)
P_SCCM5, Is the Site Database Server SQL Node 2 (passive)
P_SCCM2, Is the Site Server(SS) and Reporting Point (RP), (active)
P_SCCM6, Is the Site Server(SS) and Reporting Point (RP), (rebuild)
P_SCCM3, Is the Management Point (MP) and Software Update Point (SUP)
P_SCCM7, Is the Management Point (MP) and Software Update Point (SUP)
P_SSCM4, Is Distribution Point (DP) (Instance 1)
P_SSCM8, Is Distribution Point (DP) (Instance 2)
Servers P_SCCM5/8 are in the other datacenter for high availability.
My question is there a specific way to upgrade/patch this SCCM server environment ?
Regards,
Carlos Luchmun

Which updates are you talking about? OS ones? ConfigMgr ones?
And what does active / rebuild mean (P_SCCM2 and P_SCCM6) mean?

Hi,
The order doesn't really matter (if we talk Software updates), as long as the needed roles are available when clients install updates.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi Torsten,
i am talking about the process for OS patches, security updates and ConfigMgr Updates. Our SCCM environment is stretched over 2 datacenter so:
P_SCCM1, Is the Site Database Server SQL Node 1 (active), located in datacenter 1 and is in cluster with the P_SCCM5
P_SCCM2, Is the Site Server(SS) and Reporting Point (RP), located in datacenter 1 and in case of an disaster that server must be rebuild in datacenter 2. Because you can't have 2 active Site Servers in one environment. There is an VM already created
wit the OS an that is te P-SCCM_6
P_SCCM3, Is the Management Point (MP) and Software Update Point (SUP) and is loadbalanced with the P_SCCM7 that is located in datacenter 2
P_SSCM4, Is Distribution Point (DP) (Instance 1) and is loadbalanced with th P_SCCM8 that is located in datacenter 2
Hope this answers your question
