service monitoring in SCOM 2007
Hi,
Need to monitor the services with start up type automatic on a server , but when i access the server from the scom console i cannot see the automatic services in the list, can only see the manual services.
Please help if you have any other solutions through which we can do this.

Are you using this method?

If so you should be able to see automatic services as well.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

Hi
The above will show ALL services that were created by the SERVICE_WIN32_OWN_PROCESS call whether they are automatic or manual start up.
The reason that some services are missing is that they weren't created using SERVICE_WIN32_OWN_PROCESS and hence you will need to use a basic service monitor or the authoring console.

Hi Graham,
I am doing it using the authoring tab -> windows services.
The services which hav start up type as automatic are not being displayed in the selection panel.
And also i need to enable it for 3 servers only , not for all the servers.

Hi, I think Graham explained what the reason for that is.
So you can go for this procedure for simple services monitoring
http://www.bictt.com/blogs/bictt.php/2011/03/17/scom-monitoring-a-service-part2.
You can actually create the service monitor as disabled to start with. Later you can enable it for those 3 machines.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)
