software updates not deployed to clients

Hi,

The software updates has been working fine until this month when I found that the none of  the clients get any of this months's updates I pushed out.

When I look at the client's computer, none of the updates I pushed out this month shows up on C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\Cache.

I have verified that there's no error message on package status of the deployment package and the software distribution works.

Here's what's in UpdatesDeployment.log

You are sure you have deployed the updates to the right Collection, does not look like you have any software updates deployed to that machine according to the log.

Also look at this for troubleshooting software updates: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693492.aspx

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have verified they are deployed to the right collection. Everything was working fine until this month. The only change we made in the organization is we migrated all the users mailboxes to exchange 2010. I did not set up the SCCM server. But I can't see why that would have impacted SCCM.

Have you check WUAhandler.log for any error? Also look at the statemessage.log file to see if any state messages are being send to the MP after the software update installation. You should be able to the the same status number in both log files.

I can't find any errors in either WUAhandler.log or statemessage.log

"Successfully completed scan" is logged in WUAhandler.log and "Successfully forwarded State Messages to the MP" was logged in statemessage.log.

Also, Evaluation states report shows "Evaluation succeeded" and the enforcement states report shows

"Successfully installed update(s)"

Check the deployment schedule settings, Have you set any timeline to software update made available to client?

Yes, I have set both the timeline to software update made available to client and the deadline to install the software update

Those machines really required that MS updates, kindly check if the distributed updates are already installed or not.

Since you dont get any errors, I would recommend to opening a support case to investigate this issue.

Thanks, everyone.

I researched more and found that I can't find the following line that I usually find for the updates before this month. I will make a phone call to MS and will let you know.

DO the clients receive other packaged applications you deploy to them?

Yes, but not any windows updates
June 24th, 2013 4:58pm

Do you use maintenance windows? down the bottom of your log it looks like one is set. Sometimes when too many updates are pushed out or a large net framework service pack update the client will calculate it doesn't have enough time to perform the installation. As a rule of thumb updates get 20 mins and service packs 60 mins. If you have just 2 of those and an hour long maint window they'll never get installed. Keeping this in mind if you have hide deployments from end users ticked you wont be able to determine if the updates will be available.

Try creating a test deployment collection and template then deploy some recent updates with the hide deployments from end users turned off and ignore maintenance windows, then you will see the little green icon showing in the taskbar.

Hi everyone,

I called MS Support and after hours of troubleshooting, I was told to apply WSUS update KB2734608 on the WSUS server, which is also the SCCM server in our case. The updates started to show up on the client side one hour after I rebooted the SCCM server following the WSUS update installation.

It is really an interesting case. I even set up a test machine and found I can see and install all the old updates except this month's.

Thank you all for your help. I hope this may help somebody who has experienced the same issue.
