subiste permission
I have a MOSS 2007 web site. Our site is an internet site, so the whole site allows anonymous access. We setup this at the top site.We also setup top company site members, company site Designers etc.And all subsites inherit from these. Now we have a new subsite created, we would like to add one person to contribute access, but we don't want to add him to top site contributors group. I guess in order to do this, I have to break the inheritance and add him to only have contributors access for this subsite. Is that correct?I also concerned if we break the inheritance, can anonymous use still access the subsite, that's what we want?thanks

anna, first off you will have to use unique permissions to setup this site so the individual can have access to it. You will also have to grant the anonymous uses access as well. I wnat ot caution you on how you do this. it you just stop inheriting the site may act funny with permissions. I would suggest deleting the site and recreating the site to use unique permission. set up your groups and that way you will side step the issues that are caused when you break inhertance

Thanks. I cannot delete the site for we have already had a lot of staff in it.What I'm now interested is :I think after breaking inherience, where should I grant the anoymous users access?I kind of think the anoymous will still work, since at the top we setup the entire site will use anonymous.thanks

well you could always save the site as a template with content. then when you recreate the site and use that template all the content will be there. anyway that depends on what permission you what them to have. you will need to set up the groups you what to give access to the site. usually visitors, contribute, and owners. I would just add NT Authenticated users to one of the groups
