touble making Quick Launch after site restore
I have a site that I restored using Designer and a .cmp file. When restored, the site did not bring in the quick launch menu. When I tried Site Actions > Look and Feel > Quick Launch to rebuild the menu, I got error message "Value does
not fall within the expected range." I tried turning on PUblishing feature so that I could try building the Current Navigation via Site Actions > Look and Feel. That method did not throw any error, but the menu item does not render in the QL
menu. This restore has only given me headaches. Any way to build a menu now? I was able to successfully restore on my test server.
Also, in editing the Site Navigation Settings, there is no option to select whether the creation of a new heading will go under Global or Current Navigation. It's like those navigations aren't there.

Thought I'd post my solution in case anyone else experiences this issue. I initially used Designer to create a new site into which I restored my .cmp file. This is the way it is recommended to restore sites. For some reason this did not allow
me to create any Global or QuickLaunch navigation.
I deleted this site and then, through the UI on the parent site, I created a new Blank Site. Then I went into Designer and restored my .cmp file into this newly created blank site. Then I could edit navigation bars as needed.
I still don't know what the issue was, but would like to know. There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you're are trying to accomplish.
