using PCNS together with Live@Edu
But this will mean that the FIM Portal needs to be used. That is no option because of costs

Hi, Is there a possibility to use PCNS together with live@edu? The setup is, FIM connected to Live@Edu and ADLDS, but we want the same users in both ADLDS and Live@edu, with synchronized credentials. But, the catch is: The passwords will be changed in Live@Edu, so is there a possibility to sync these passwords to ADLDS?

Do you mean someone changing their passwords on the Live@edu service ? If so, no, there is no way to flow the LiveID password reset back to the on-prem pieces. A password change on Live@edu does not trigger PCNS. Turn off password reset on Live@edu on eduadmin.live.com , this prevents people from changing the password on the Live Services. When you upgrade to Office 365 later, you will need to look at using ADFS for a SSO experience. Rob

Thanks for the answer. I found out it is possible to change the URL behind the password change button. Is there a possibility to let FIM handle this password change process. I found out there is the "MIIS 2003 Password Management" but does this work under FIM 2010 R2? Or is there any info about this?

You could use the web based password reset functionality in FIM 2010 R2 and then flow that password out to AD LDS and Live@EDU...My Book - Active Directory, 4th Edition My Blog - www.briandesmond.com
