ok I know that (and this is a BIG PAIN!) Windows8/server2012 isn't supported under sce2010 but all I need to be able to do is deploy software and windows updates to win8 client.

Anyway win8 fails to get updates from sce2010 with error 800b0001, now this looks to be the same issue as http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverwsus/thread/dd879f17-725c-4c94-979d-607d996bebf9 and the fix is this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30747 Update for Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2 for x64-based Systems (KB2734608) now is this hotfix applicable for SCE2010?  I don't want to apply the fix and mess things up.
