wss 3.0 October CU update Instalation Error
Hi,
I tried to install (The WSSv3 CU of October) twice in my dev machine (did a snapshot on the vmware). Both times after the installation the system doesn't allow the execution of the configuration wizard nor the command line and doesn't connect to the database.
Regarding the SP2. I already have it installed since 2009, never the less I tried to reinstall and it said It already was installed.
Could someone help me out on this?
I can suply the logs, etc...

If you read through the installation logs (they're long) you may find a meaningful error somewhere shortly before the "fata;" installation error. Are you logged in as the original installation account, and does the account have sufficient permissions
(dbo) to the target databases? Is this for the October 2009 or October 2010 CU? Finally, can you confirm what the internal build number is for the server as rerted by Central Admin? Thanks.

if you trying to install the OCt 2010 updates then their is known issue with it but now they fix it and you need to donwload the latest update version. and another requirement is your environment should be on the SP2.

Thanks for the reply.
When I install the CU Update and try to run the Products and Technologies configuration I get a out of farm situation. Basically it says It can't find the farm and asks to exit from the farm (the system runs everything in the same machine) the Log doesn't
show a Fatal exception. I'm logged as the original installation account and it is the same account that I used to apply every other CU's. I'm talking about the 2010 October CU. Here I leave the Servers in Farm description.
Farm Information
Version: 12.0.0.6545
Configuration database server: FA-SVR-DEV1
Configuration database name: SharePoint_Config_a4ab16b4-1dcd-41a1-85bd-0b4e8e42c100
Server
FA-SVR-DEV1
Services Running
Central Administration
Windows SharePoint Services Database
Windows SharePoint Services Incoming E-Mail
Windows SharePoint Services Search
Windows SharePoint Services Web Application
Version
12.0.0.6545
I also tried the WAQAS105 link and even with that CU it gave the same error.
David HM pointed a 2009 October CU.
