Hi, I had an SCOM 2007 R2 server, which was working fine. i tried to Update it with SCOM 2007 R2 Cu4. The update started and at end, it throws an Error message as below. "The program failed to apply software update Please check the patch file is present in the patch folder and proper version of MOM is installed on the machine " I looked to the log , it has below statement . "MSI (c) (94:D4) [12:33:31:195]: Product: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 - Update 'System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Cumulative Update 4 (KB2449679)' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Additional information is available in the log file C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1.SSA\LOCALS~1\Temp\KB2449679-x86_0.log." I am not able to start "System Center Data Access service" . If i try to start this service it thows belowerror message, "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" searched on net , not able to find any resolution for this . Try the below i had to eventually increase timeout to 180000 1. Load up regedit. 2. Locate and then select the following registry sub key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control 3. In the right pane, locate the ServicesPipeTimeout entry. If this does not exist follow steps a and b: a. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. b. Type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press ENTER. 4. Right-click ServicesPipeTimeout, and then click Modify. 5. Click Decimal, type 60000, and then click OK. 6. Restart the computer.
