'MailboxRole' is partially configured
Just added a new MBX server. Afterwards i run the BPA to see if i missed anything. One "critical" issue was: 'MailboxRole' is partially configuredMy only option was not to show the item again. There was no option to "Tell me more about this issue and how to resolved it."How/where can i find out what hasn't been configured?Ex2k7 SP2 native. No Ex2k3 or earlier.

Hi,
Try to create mailboxes on this server and then check mail flow by sending receiving the emails b/w mailboxes using OWA/outlook. You might have skipped Public Folder DB creation during MBX role installation, which can be created later using EMC or EMS. Also make a reboot on the server (which i guess u already have). If you dont see any error when managing the mailboxes on this mbx server then this issue can be ignored. And if you find problems, then a reinstall of the MBX role can be initiated again.

The new mailbox works fine for internal messaging. External messages sent to it are being bounced; "Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 User unknown" I ran the edgesync update a few minutes ago. Maybe it's still replicating? The pub store is definietly there.

Yeah, didn't wait long enough for edgesync. It's working. I guess i'll try rebooting. It's a shame the BPA doesn't provide any clues about this issue.

No luck with the reboot. BPA still says 'partially configured'. Still no clue what it's referring to.
MS must have some kind of way to interpret these things??

Is it a Clustered Mailbox Server?Check the link below, it could very well be applicable if it's an standalone mailbox toohttp://blogs.technet.com/timmcmic/archive/2009/09/21/clusteredmailboxserver-is-partially-configured-exbpa.aspxRegards,

Hello Bkinkyjesus,What is the output of a get-mailboxserver | fl command?I can't imagine that binaries were partially configured, but i guess so about things related to AD, altough internal mailflow is OK (so HUB and MBX are communicating). Can you see all the servers's subfolders on ADSIedit? (the InformationStore, Microsoft MTA, Microsoft System attendant and Protolocs folders under the Server's folder)To check this, go to:Configuration/Services/Microsoft Exchange/Organization/Administrative groups/Exchange Administrative group/Servers/MBXservernameAlso, please let me know if any application log errors were generated just after you installed the role. Also, check for exchange setup log for any errors (try to find for "error") under:C:\exchangesetuplogs\exchangesetup.logI will wait for your feedback on this.

All of the server's subfolders are visible in adsiedit. I included the output of get-mailboxserver below, however there were way too many instances of "error" in the setup log to post them here. They don't appear to be errors as such, but just references to the word (as in "-PropertyValues 'DISABLEERRORREPORTING=1" for example.) If you email me at blinkyjesus at hotmail dot com, i'll reply with the full log.jimName : ExchangeMBXManagedFolderAssistantSchedule :LogPathForManagedFolders : C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange S erver\Logging\Managed Folder Assistan tLogFileAgeLimitForManagedFolders : 00:00:00LogDirectorySizeLimitForManagedFolders : unlimitedLogFileSizeLimitForManagedFolders : 10MBMessageTrackingLogEnabled : TrueMessageTrackingLogMaxAge : 30.00:00:00MessageTrackingLogMaxDirectorySize : 250MBMessageTrackingLogMaxFileSize : 10MBMessageTrackingLogPath : C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange S erver\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTrac kingMessageTrackingLogSubjectLoggingEnabled : TrueMAPIEncryptionRequired : FalseRetentionLogForManagedFoldersEnabled : FalseJournalingLogForManagedFoldersEnabled : FalseFolderLogForManagedFoldersEnabled : FalseSubjectLogForManagedFoldersEnabled : FalseSubmissionServerOverrideList : {}ClusteredStorageType : DisabledAutoDatabaseMountDial : LosslessForcedDatabaseMountAfter : unlimitedRedundantMachines : {}ReplicationNetworks : PrivateThenMixedIsPhoneticSupportEnabled : FalseLocale : {}IsValid : TrueOriginatingServer : Server.Company.comExchangeVersion : 0.1 (8.0.535.0)DistinguishedName : CN=ExchangeMBX,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Adm inistrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),C N=Administrative Groups,CN=etn,CN=Mic rosoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Config uration,DC=Company,DC=comIdentity : ExchangeMBXGuid : faedf09a-f968-4ee6-b100-147cb9a1b26eObjectCategory : company.com/Configuration/Schema/ms-E xch-Exchange-ServerObjectClass : {top, server, msExchExchangeServer}WhenChanged : 2/15/2010 8:32:26 AMWhenCreated : 2/13/2010 4:20:33 PM

Today i had the same issue. I find some information here: http://www.andreagallazzi.com/2010/09/exchange-2010-mailbox-role-installation.html
But i don't want to delete the registry key and i startet the installation of exchange 2010 again. After i finished the setup, the registry key was disappeared.
