'Send on behalf of error' when sending from my own mailbox. Works from OWA and smartphone
Exchange 2007, Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 Pro x64
This problem recently started on my account, which I've had for a year.
I can receive emails fine, but when I reply or send from Outlook I get the message: You are not allowed to send this message because you are trying to send on behalf of another sender without permission to do so. Please verify that you are sending on
behalf of the correct sender, or ask your system administrator to help you get the required permission.
I am not trying to send on behalf of any account; this is my normal account. It does not have any alt SMTP addresses.
When responding or sending new emails from my smartphone (Droid with corporate sync) or from OWA it works.
I have deleted and re-created the Outlook profile, but it didn't help.
Any ideas?
Edit: Uninstalled Office 2003 and Installed Office 2007 Pro. No change.

Check the "From:" header before you send the message. Your name
shouldn't be in there.

Hi
Be aware that you cannot send e-mail messages on behalf of a mailbox if the mailbox is hidden from address lists. When sending a message, Exchange requires that an e-mail address is resolved in the
From field. In the case where a message is sent on behalf of a mailbox that is hidden from address lists, the SMTP address is interpreted as an address that is not from your
organization (known as a foreign address) and is rejected. In Microsoft Office Outlook, users will receive the following errors when attempting to send a message on behalf of a mailbox
that is hidden from address lists:
Online mode When users press
Send, they will receive the following error: "You do not have permission to send on behalf of the specified user."
Cached Exchange Mode Outlook
initially sends the message, but users will receive a non-delivery report (NDR) containing the following message: "You are not allowed to send this message because you are trying to send on behalf of another user without permission to do so. Please verify
that you are sending on behalf of the correct sender, or ask your system administrator to help you get the required permission."
Do your mailbox hide from address list ?
What is the result when you run
Add-ADPermission "Mailbox" -User "Domain\User" -Extendedrights "Send As"

When I run the command I get an error message:
Add-ADPermission : [myusername] was not found. Please make sure you have typed it correctly.
At line:1 char:17 + add-adpermission <<<< "[my username]" -user "[dom]\[my username]" -extendedrights "
send as" + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (0:Int32) [Add-ADPermission], ManagementObjectNotFoundException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : D57C0727,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Recipient
Tasks.AddADPermission
I think I tried that earlier through the management shell and received a message that I could not grant send as permissions to my own mailbox.

I created a new message and under Options clicked "show from" on the ribbon before sending. It is blank. I still get the undeliverable report.

Hi
I just do the test of exchange 2007 SP3 RU3. EMC-> Recipient configuration ->mailbox-> testuser->action pane -> manage send as permission-> add ->testuser -> managed -> finish.
Can you create new account to test it and then test it on your user account.

Try using ADUC. The "Send As" permission is an AD permission so using
ADUC should work just fine.
