(IF) Field codes don't get evaluated in Word online

Hi,

We use Office Web App Server (OWA) for displaying Word documents. In these documents we use Field codes like the IF field and other fields that contains values. They don't behave as expected (as in Word 2013 desktop version).

For example we have field that contains some value. With an IF field we check the value and determine the content of what other field we should show. For example if Field1 contains "Male" we show the contents of Field2 ("Dear Mr.") otherwise show the contents of Field3 ("Dear Ms.")
The strange thing is, that when Field1 contains "Male" the proper content is shown. But if it does not contain "Male" it does not show the contents of Field3, but the literal definition of the Field "{field3}"

In Word on the desktop it does work as expected, in Word online it does not.
Even stranger: When we add an {Time} field (even without format) into the "else"-portion of the IF field, it does get evaluated and show the proper contents. But of course we don't want to add time fields in all our if statements.

Is there a nice solution for this (setting in OWA / Open XML SDK) or is Microsoft going to fix this in the near future?

Thanx Christian
