We have a single .local domain (ourdomain.local) in a Windows Server 2003 environment. I now have a single Exchange Server 2003 setup, but not yet in production. Our current email is setup on POP3 ourside our network as ourdomain.com. My question is, should we continue to use the .local domain and just add a .com domain to it, or somehow rename the .local to .com? I am only lookingforinfo on the internal network, AD, DNS, etc., not external DNS, MX,etc. Any suggestions and a general overview of what needs to be done would be appreciated. Hi, Yes keep your .local domain for inside. Just modify the recipient policy in Exchange 2003 so it contains the .com domain and set it as the default address. Beside this you have to change your external DNS so the A-record where the MX-record points to is the external IP-address where the mailserver can be contacted on.
