.msg crash Outlook

Hi,

I have receieved a email with attached .msg file. However, the file .msg has attached few another .msg file, and the .msg got attached one .msg file.

If open the last .msg file, the Outlook will just crash.

Do it got to do with the long .msg file name or the dept of the email?

I have rebuilt OST, delete the Outlook directory but not working.
> It can open with no issue on safe mode, but not in normal mode with all com plugins disabled.

> If I save the .msg at local, and rename to one word msg file name. IT can open with no issue in this.

On the Outlook logging, it shown only below:

</ex12m:GetUserOofSettingsRequest></q:Body></q:Envelope>

2013/08/30 14:17:43.999: Request sent

That is the send/receive log and not related to the issue ;-)
What is logged to the Event Viewer about this crash?
See: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/317

Also, which version (exact build number) of Outlook are we talking about?
I assume this is for an Exchange account? Which version of Exchange are you connecting to?

Hi,

I have noticed the rename operation on local save file can open with shorter file name, but cannot derive the standard in this.
Somehow it will with three word file name or work with one word file name or lesser word.

The msg attachment can open with OWA no issue.

See if applying Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 already solves your issues:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39667

Also, which add-ins do you have listed and which virus scanner are you using?
Disable its Outlook integration and set an exception to not scan msg-files. Then reboot your computer and see if the issue still occurs.
