15006 resource error
I have an exchange 2007 server. Last night external mail stopped being recieved. When i came in this am i found this error. Can anyone advise. I am not sure what to look at per this error.
The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is rejecting message submissions because the available disk space has dropped below the configured threshold.
Resource utilization of the following resources exceed the normal level:
Queue database logging disk space ("C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\data\Queue\") = 97% [Medium] [Normal=95% Medium=97% High=99%]
Back pressure caused the following components to be disabled:
Inbound mail submission from the Internet
Mail submission from the Pickup directory
Mail submission from the Replay directory
The following resources are in the normal state:
Queue database and disk space ("C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\data\Queue\mail.que") = 96% [Normal] [Normal=95% Medium=97% High=99%]
Version buckets = 0 [Normal] [Normal=80 Medium=120 High=200]
Private bytes = 6% [Normal] [Normal=71% Medium=73% High=75%]
Physical memory load = 79% [limit is 94% before message dehydration occurs.]

What SP is Exchange 2007?
In RTM, you needed at least 4GB free on the drive that holds the transport logs and queues, After SP1, you need at least 500MB.

No one has modified the back pressure defaults?

to the best of my knowledge no. No one has modified those files.Jim Thomas

And what is the total size of the C: drive. Check that article, it illustrates the formula used to calcuate avail disk space when back pressure is evaluated.

using this formaula
By default, the high level of hard disk drive space utilization is calculated by using the following formula:
100*(hard disk drive size - fixed constant) / hard disk drive size
In the release to manufacturing (RTM) version of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, the value of
fixed constant is 4 GB.
In Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the value of
fixed constant is 500 MB.
My answer makes no sense. Total c: space = 58.5G Using 500M as a constant i come up with 99.145
I don't think i am doing it right.Jim Thomas

HAve you verified that those values have not been modified in the EdgeTransport.exe.config file?
I assume you removed some files and its back to normal now?

I have not removed any files mail was restored when i got in this am. As far as the exe.config i have nothing to compare it to. There is heck of alot of settings in there. This is why i am confused. I am trying to figure out why this error came up last
night. I know as a fact there was a period of time when we were not recieving email. I have not removed any files yet because i wanted to find out why this happened. I still have 2.3G free.Jim Thomas

Explanation
This Error event indicates that the computer that stores the queue database is running out of hard
disk space.
User Action
To resolve this error, follow these steps:
1.
Determine whether a queue exists and the size of the queue. To do this, start the Exchange Management Shell, and then run the
get-queue cmdlet. If many messages are in the queue, the issue is resolved when the messages are emptied from the queue. If a queue does not exist, go to step 2.
2.
If the space on the hard disk is not filled by many messages in the queue, you must either free space on the hard disk or move the queue to a hard disk that
contains more free space. For more information about how to determine whether a hard disk requires more space, see
How to Change the Location of the Queue Database.

You don't have shadow copy enabled on the drive do you? Right click the D: drive properties, shadow copy tab.
I would also delete the queue by stopping the transport service, deleting (or moving the queue files to temp directory) and restart the transport sevice to create a new queue.

Hi to all!
i have the same problem with my hub transport server. i found an error in the event log telling that disk holding the queue is running out of space. that disk has 55 gb of free space. i didnt do anything and after few minutes everything goes back to normal,
email flow is ok.
i don't know why is this happening. it's not possible that something is holding 55 gb of data and then those 55 gb dissapear on their own. edge config file isnt modified, i have two partitions, C for system with 1.3 gb of free space and d for queue with
55 gb of free space. I have EX07 SP2, Windows 2008 standard.
